Nomination Confirmation and Participation Policy
What confirming your nomination means, and how the awards journey works.
Last updated: October 2026, version 1.0
This policy applies to everyone nominated for the Bournemouth Business Leaders Award. Please read it with our Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Policy, our Business Information and Data Sharing Policy and our Business Communications Policy.
01Our purpose and commitment
Every nomination is an opportunity to recognise achievement, celebrate excellence, strengthen professional relationships and create opportunities for the future.
The Bournemouth Business Leaders Award brings together entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals, organisations, community leaders, suppliers and partners to celebrate achievement and encourage business to business engagement. Our ambition is that every participant, whether nominee, shortlisted nominee, semi-finalist, finalist or winner, has a meaningful and rewarding experience.
02Accepting and confirming your nomination
By selecting Confirm My Nomination, you confirm that:
- You wish to accept your nomination and take part in the Bournemouth Business Leaders Award
- You have read and agree to our Terms and Conditions and this policy
- The information you have given is accurate to the best of your knowledge
- You are authorised to provide the business and professional information given
- You understand that we may ask for further information or verification
- Your nomination will be handled under the rules of the awards and our Privacy Policy
03Who can nominate
A nomination may be made by the person nominated, their organisation or someone else acting in good faith. Where someone else makes the nomination, the person nominated must confirm their own participation. Marketing choices are always the nominee's own to make.
04Your nomination and recognition journey
Depending on the awards, participants may progress from nomination to confirmed nominee, shortlisted, semi-finalist, finalist and winner. You may receive updates and requests for information at each stage.
Every confirmed nominee is considered fairly, and progress to each stage, and selection as a winner, is decided by the judges under the published eligibility and judging rules.
05Your responsibilities
We ask every participant to:
- Give accurate and relevant professional information
- Use business contact details wherever possible
- Complete requested nomination information within the deadlines
- Submit genuine professional achievements and supporting evidence
- Respect the awards process, the judges, the organisers and fellow participants
- Share only information that is true, accurate and yours to share
- Keep their nomination and account details reasonably up to date
06Keeping the awards fair
To keep the awards fair for everyone, we review nominations under the rules of the awards. Where one is inaccurate, inappropriate or not eligible, we may correct it, limit it or decline it.
07Keeping your private information private
The awards are for professional recognition and business to business engagement. Please give only information relevant to your nominated business, your professional identity and responsibilities, your professional achievements or your participation in the awards.
To protect your privacy, there is no need to share private, sensitive or personal information unrelated to your business or professional activities. In particular, there is no need to share:
- A home address where a business address is appropriate
- A personal email address not meant for professional communication
- A private telephone number not used for business
- Passport details, National Insurance numbers or identity documents we have not asked for
- Banking or financial details outside our approved payment systems
- Medical information, family details or other sensitive personal information
- Confidential information belonging to other people or organisations without their authority
- Photographs, documents or personal information unrelated to your nomination
08Sole traders and home based businesses
Where a sole trader or home based business uses personal contact details for legitimate business purposes, we handle them under data protection law. Business information that identifies a person can still be personal data under UK GDPR, so please share only what is necessary, relevant and appropriate.
09Your guest dashboard
Once you confirm, you can use your guest dashboard, as its features allow, to:
- See and manage your nominations and award categories
- Update your professional and business details and contact information
- Upload photographs, videos and supporting documents
- Follow your progress through the awards
- See event and booking information
- Review your public profile
- Manage your communication preferences
10Changes needing our approval
Some verified records, eligibility decisions and judging outcomes need our approval before they change. Please keep your login details safe and tell us if you suspect anyone else has used your account.
11Public recognition and profiles
Selected professional information may appear on our awards websites, recognition pages, event programmes and publicity: for example your name, job title, business name, approved biography, award category, recognition status and approved photographs or videos. Public profiles follow our submission, moderation and publication process.
Your private contact details are never published just because you have confirmed a nomination. You can ask us to correct your information and use your data protection rights at any time.
12The awards day
Participants may be invited to the awards ceremony, networking, group recognition, the winners announcements and celebrations. Attending may need separate registration or confirmation, and tickets for the awards day are booked separately, unless we tell you one is included.
Buying tickets, sponsorship or any other service never influences the independent judging.
13Changes, withdrawals and corrections
You can ask us to correct your information or withdraw from the awards at any time by contacting us. If you withdraw, we keep only the records the law requires us to, for as long as it requires. Any event bookings are covered by our booking terms, our Refund, Transfer and Credit Policy and your statutory rights.
14Severability and continuing enforceability
If any clause, provision, statement, term or part of this Nomination Confirmation and Participation Policy is found by a court of competent jurisdiction or another authorised regulatory or judicial authority to be invalid, unlawful, unenforceable or contrary to applicable law, that finding applies only to the clause, provision or part affected.
The remaining clauses, provisions and terms of this Nomination Confirmation and Participation Policy remain valid, binding and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and continue in full force and effect.
Where the law allows, any invalid or unenforceable provision will be interpreted or limited to the minimum extent necessary to make it lawful and enforceable, while keeping, as far as reasonably possible, its original purpose and commercial intent.
The invalidity or unenforceability of any individual provision does not automatically invalidate or affect the enforceability of this Nomination Confirmation and Participation Policy as a whole, provided the remaining provisions can continue to operate lawfully and independently.
Nothing in this clause excludes, restricts or overrides any statutory rights, consumer protections or other mandatory legal requirements under the laws of England and Wales.
15Our commitment to you
We aim to provide a transparent, inclusive and professional recognition experience. Every participant deserves to feel valued for their contribution, whether or not they take home a trophy. Your nomination is the beginning of a journey of recognition, relationships and opportunity.
